My Carnival Lens Challenge
The My Carnival Lens Challenge was an initiative of Digicel (Trinidad and Tobago) and the Movies n’ Makers Club of Film and Folklore Festival. It provided citizens of Trinidad and Tobago the opportunity to exhibit a two-minute short film or animation, and win fantastic prizes in the process.
The theme for the 2022 challenge was ‘Carnival in 2022’ and encouraged entrants to create a piece of fiction that focused on their experience during the carnival season. This could have focused on Trinidad and Tobago's culture, traditions and beliefs, based on the entrant’s perspective. Submitted films were allowed to be animated or live-action – funny or serious. Films were featured on the Digicel PlayGo App, Digicel social platforms, and on the Film and Folklore social platforms. Winning films were awarded prizes.
